The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . December 30, 2009 . . .

Well . . . we finally got some snow and it was my first glimpse of how colourful the house and Workshop colours look in winter's backdrop.

I got our little New Year bags made from the scraps of the Gees Bend Zen duvet cover . . .

As you can see, they aren't fancy
and just big enough to hold a penny.
Even if you make them with
paper and duct tape . . . have at it!

I decided to place them on my KanShoKu table . . .

I also decided to try out some dye discharge paste on the Gees Bend fabrics that I hadn't used in the duvet cover.

I used a plastic paint screen
on the purple

And a kitchen scrubber on the blue

Then added some little squiggles with a syringe

After they dried, using steam on them discharges the dye . . .

The grid all blended together

On gold the scrubber design
is much different than on the blue . . .

The squiggles really discharged the colour
and the scrubber made donut-like designs

The syringe squiggles on the black
were the most colourful

I am really looking forward to beginning the new year . . . as well as a new decade. And I just found out today that this New Year's Eve full moon is a Blue Moon . . . which is when we have two full moons in one month!

Perhaps it portends a special night to begin the first year of a magical decade . . .

Until soon,

Che'usa
