The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . March 25, 2009 . . .

Just after posting my last Musing way back in February, the idea came to us of finding 'yet another' travel home. You can read all about it on my Travel Tales page. THAT whole adventure and our first trip kept me so busy that yesterday was the first day I really felt like settling back in to my Sewing Studio.

I see by the calendar that tomorrow starts a New Moon cycle ~ The Clarity Moon . . . which will certainly be a novel and welcome energy just now! (You can read more about it on my friend Iona's link.)

Back in February I had done some dye discharge on a raisin colour piece of raw silk and was intrigued by the way it came out. I used some stencils I had cut during my 'Mayan period' a few years ago.

I like the unevenness of the saturation and the edges.
It's always a Mystery
as to what colour will remain
once the dye is discharged!

I had cut out pants and a reversible drop-sleeve-less vest/jacket which had just been languishing in the Studio awaiting my return to the sewing machine. I had made a similar reversible vest/jacket out of heavier fabric and wanted to make some adjustments.

Rather than connecting the front to back at the side seams ~ once the pieces were sewn and turned right side out ~ I decided I would just tack the front to back under the arm. It turned out to be a much simpler process than turning everything then having to reach through the opening to sew the side seams together!

The 'collar' is cut all in one piece with the front.
Sort of tricky to figure out at first, but makes a nice finish,
especially since it is reversible to just plain fabric on the inside.

Has kind of a cocoon look

Felt good to be back sewing again. Now to figure out some kind of a blouse/top with the rest of the fabric. Looking at the photos, they have kind of a 'groundhog day' colour to them . . . good March transition garments!

Just for a little pizzzzzzazz of colour . . .
This is the red-orange raw silk jacket and pants
I made a few months ago . . .
The orange pieces in the scarf are from old kimonos

The other night we watched the movie 'Australia'. The first part was
a little confusing, but once I began to understand who was who and got used to the accents, it was an interesting movie. I especially liked the part where the little guy said he would 'sing her to him' . . .

Just in the past two days the birds have returned checking out the birdhouses Eb made a few years ago. Wonder who they are singing
to them???

And speaking of birdhouses, check out this incredible Tea House in Japan, designed and built by the architect on his family land.

You can read more about it and see lots more photos on this Blog.

Amazing . . .
and a reminder
that the 'backdrop for experiences'
I have chosen
for this New Moon period is . . .
'prepare to be captivated'!!!!!!!!

Until soon,

Che'usa
