The Orange Wheelbarrow

Living life as a beautiful artform is my highest aspiration . . . Che'usa

Me Musing . . . March 18, 2010 . . .

It's almost Spring but I wanted to try making a scarf from some 'winter colour' kimono fabric pieces I just received. I had a friend in mind who wears these colours so it was fun to see if these 'who would put that together' pieces would actually work together!

I was very pleased with how effortlessly it came together . . .

Since finding Donna Watson's Blog earlier this week, I went out to the barn to find the boxes that contained all my favorite stones I have collected over the years. As I placed them about the house, it brought to mind one of my favorite Georgia O'Keefe stories I named
'The Gifting' . . .

Did this collecting indicate an interest in geology?
She shook her head.
"I don't know a thing about geology.
I just pick up rocks because of their shape,
their smoothness,
their beauty."
Colour meant little in her rock collecting.
Her favorite was a small black stone
buffed and polished by the Colorado River.
Her close friend, the noted photographer Eliot Porter had picked it up.
Its only distinguishing characteristic was its round smoothness.
To her it was finer than a rare jewel.
"Eliot and I were on a raft trip on the Colorado River last year
and both of us found special rocks," she laughed.
"But his was better.
I kept after him the rest of the trip about wanting that rock,
but he said he'd have to take it home to his wife.
Then he said he might talk her into giving it to me.
On a later visit,
I just picked it up off their table
and brought it home.
They never missed it!!!!"

Maybe that is why I have soooooo many small black stones . . . extras, just in case someone else falls in love with them too!

And speaking of stones . . . one of the verses that Donna presented was this:

For 3 days, that verse 'haunted' me. I just couldn't get it out of my mind. That happens sometimes . . . something I will read will touch me so deeply that I just have to do something with it!

So last night I began . . .

with that verse . . .

a frame from painted wood from my old Aetna property . . .

some handmade paper . . .

some stones . . .

letting them come together
to 'come forth' . . .

Until soon,
