The Orange Wheelbarrow

Creating is how I communicate with the world . . .

    Me Musing . . . January 30, 2012

Well . . . this was an interesting project. Remember the linen and silk I was practicing on with Colorhue Dyes a few days ago and wrote about on my January 25th Musing???? I remember thinking that they were more pastel colours than I usually wear and very Spring-like in look and feel.

I had already 'rough cut' the fabric before using the dyes, so I finished the final cutting this afternoon. One of the 'learned' parts of the Creative Process for me has been to 'think ahead' of how pieces fit together . . . 'order of construction'.

I decided I would make the jacket reversible, not knowing if I would ever wear the 'inside' which was silk noil with 'zebra-like' light blue areas.

I did remember to cut and sew the pocket to the 'outside' before sewing the jacket together. Unfortunately I realized too late that I should have sewn both the shoulder and side seams of each jacket together before I attached them as one piece!

I had been thinking of the reversible vest-like garment I have made a few times that didn't require side seam attachment as I just tacked them for a more 'floaty' look.

'Mistakes' always add more creativity to the Creative Process!!!!!! It meant sewing the side seams by hand, which actually worked out OK. (Whewwwwwww!)

I used the darker pieces I had dyed for cuffs and by the time I finished, I actually liked the colours more than when I began!

    (I added eggplant coloured circles
to the pieces I dyed two days ago)

As I was taking photos I realized how much of these 'pastel' colours I have in my little 'Creative Space' . . .

    Japanese paper

Dyed fabric used for the jacket,
    reading glasses, scissors

Dresser used for storing vintage kimono fabric

    Scene of Mt. Fuji

    Favorite ginkgo leaf tea bowl

    Square tea bowl

    Small coffee cup
    I bought Mother years ago

No wonder my sewing is 'slow' . . . I spend a lot of time enjoying all the objects in my little 'Creative Space' . . .

    Until soon,

    Che'usa
