The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . April 17, 2007 . . . I began to write this and just now on the 20th early a.m. got it finished!

Since all the skeletons jumped out of the closet in March's Musings, I might as well share this story too!

In 1992 while living outside Portland, Oregon I connected with a group of like-minded people (aka Spiritual group!) and we met every few weeks to share, do (what I call) 'quietude' work. (Notice I didn't say 'meditate' as I've never been a good meditator. I remember taking a class in meditation in 1982 and the instructor said, "You'll notice that thoughts and things to do will occupy your mind" . . . I went to him afterward and said, "I must be doing something wrong . . . there were no thoughts or anything occupying my mind!". Little did I know THAT was their goal, but that was my starting place!!!!!!!!!)

Soon you'll understand why all this is 'winding' along in one direction and then another!

It seemed to me back then that when we did special healing/blessing evenings, that the room needed pizzzzzzzazzzzzzed up, so I would take flowers and different colours of fabrics to drape over the table, and items that I felt would bring positive energy to our work. The next day after I first did this, I got a thank-you from the guy who led the group and the note was addressed to Che'usa.

I called him the next day and asked what a Che'usa was!

He said, 'It was the name I knew you as before time began, and the name you will be when time is no more.'

Well . . . that certainly took me by surprise; however, at the same time, resonated very deeply in me. So I began saying the name over and over and writing Che'usa Darri to see how it felt. And I liked it.

In 1997 when I decided to immerse myself in the 'creative life' that had been bubbling up within me, I relocated to far-northern California, and it seemed like the perfect time to take that name with me. . . an artist's prerogative, I suppose!

People often 'blame' such actions on many things . . . menopause being at the head of the list it always seems!

And since I have always had a tendancy to 'go whole hog' as we used to say in Ohio . . . I thought I might as well get a whole new name. I loved the colours of burnt and raw sienna and having just returned from a month in Siena, Italy, it seemed only natural that Che'usa and Sienna went together.

For a last name, I always liked the wind, but didn't want to spell it that way. I looked up Wend and it was Old English for (loosely translated) 'one who follows the Voice of God, thereby wending their way through life'.

What can I say . . . if THAT didn't sum up my meanderings, nothing did!

What's in a name?????? Plenty, if you pick the name that suits you!

Which reminds me . . . I haven't written for almost a month as I have been immersed in my family history.

I've been figuring out how to put up a genealogy site . . . and it has been a real test of my endurance!

This afternoon, Thelma (my computer guru) and I finally got it linked to everything.

You are now able to Visit my Genealogy Site and after our Big Dance on Sunday, I'll start adding stories on the 'Remembrances' pages.

Until soon,

Che'usa
