The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . December 1, 2008 . . .

Tonight in order to take my mind off the health challenges of a few friends, I decided to move into the 'creative mode', since trying to quietly read a book just didn't do it!

Remember that gold wool I bought at the wonderful little fabric shop in Ashland that I only got 1/2 yard of, and had thrown in the washer and dryer and it shrank a lot?????

Well . . . in my stash I found a wonderful piece of wool that I had gotten at the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Pendleton, Oregon a few years ago . . . sort of a rock art design woven on both sides. I had only gotten one panel, which was a little over 1/2 yard, since it was really expensive fabric!!! It had already been through the washer and dryer routine months ago so it was all ready to go! It hadn't shrunk much . . . actually didn't change much at all.

The two just seemed to be meant for each other, so I got out the pattern I had used for the steel blue corduroy/green upholstery fabric vest and started in.

The rock art wool wasn't quite long enough for the front pieces, but since the back would be the gold wool anyway, I'd just used some of it to piece onto the fronts!

It was hard for me to choose which side would be 'out', so I took away the 'having to decide' by overlapped the edges and using a small zigzag double row of stitches, making the vest reversible!

This side was my first pick

This side is fun too . . .
it has more light blue in it
but in the photo the gold wool came out yellow!

I had a little fabric leftover, so I figured I'd just make a small bag out of it. At first it was more like a 'clutch bag' (remember those from years ago???????!!!!!!!), then I added a short 'wrist' handle.

The colours in this photo came out
more orange than the bag really is.
The colour of this print is more the colour!

This is the back.
I love the hands!

Before I knew it, 3 hours had whizzed by
and I was relaxed
and found myself smiling,

knowing
'The GREAT HANDS'

are at work
in each of our lives.

I
bow . . .
to
Their Wisdom.

Until soon,
