From over the Hill
. . .

April 13, 2012

Okie Dokie, people have been asking what I have been up to as I haven't posted any stories for almost two weeks. Sooooooooooo here's the story . . .

Since February I have been enjoying the company of Mildred Hughes at least once a week, gathering photos and stories and helping her write her Life Story. Many of you will remember the story I posted last September when Mildred turned 99. You guessed it . . . this year she turns 100.

Mildred amazed us last year by getting a laptop and learning to send emails. An avid seamstress for years, Mildred has now decided to get out the sewing machine and whip up a dress for any celebrations where she will be the guest of honour !!!!!!!

Coming up this next week (Thursday, April 19th) at the historic Avery Theatre in Etna, Clarence Barger and his 26-piece Big Band Fun orchestra will be thrilling us again. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the music begins at 7:00 pm.

Tickets are $6 in advance at Scott Valley Banks in Etna and Ft. Jones; Premier West Bank in Greenview; Scott Valley Drug in Etna, or by calling me at 467-5815.

Ticket price is $8 at the door, however, with the way ticket sales have been going, there may not be any tickets left to sell that night . . . so you better get yours early! Don't miss out on this special evening.

Check out Good Morning Scott Valley's podcast today to find out what's going on around town this coming week and listen to the interview Serena did with Clarence about the Big Band orchestra and concert from this link. The actual interview with Clarence begins about 9.00 minutes into the show.

For more information on the Etna Farmer's Market which will begin this summer, mark your calendar for their kickoff meeting on April 26th.

I've got to get back into my little 'Creative Space' and get my act together, as Grandma used to say . . . as I will Emcee the Big Band show once again.

That means digging through the closet to see what outfit and hat(s) I can pull together.

Yikes! If I can't find anything to wear that means I will need to make something.

Dig through your closet too and come in 1940's style!!!!!!!

In joy!
