From over the Hill . . .
March
24, 2012
Remember
this photo and information I posted on the March
11th post of the 'Crystal Creek School' (Washington
School District 2 miles south of Greenview) taken in 1890??
Well,
we have a few more relatives of these people added to the list
now (see the additions in purple ink below).

This
shows the names . . .

While
Karen was proof reading this page for me, she noted that her grandmother
Leyla Abbot is*
in the photo (2nd from right in 1st row),
but her name is not on the list! She would have been listed
as no. 13 in 1st row and then Nel Davidson would have been no.
14.
Emmett
Martin sent this information:
"Thought I would bring you up to date on the Names. Especially
No. 12, Estella Allee, the mother of Hank Martin (ex-Mayor of
Cheeseville). Also, the Teacher in the 2nd row (Cumming's) was
Bonnie (Green) Martin's grandmother!
That
old school house was there until 1936. I remember playing in it.
Frank
Martin tore it down and built a log cabin, which is still there!!
Lots
of people think that the log cabin was the old school house. Not
so.
Merton
Martin spent many hours chipping bark off the logs that are still
standing."
New
additions:
Joanne
Smith Mello wrote she was so happy to finally have the names of
the students shown in the photo. She is related to these people:
Ida
Egli (standing next to Staff Wilson, Jr. (Lucius Stafford Wilson)
who she later married; Pearl Wilson, Lizzie Egli, Ed Egli, Alma
Wilson (Pearl & Alma were cousins of Staff Wilson), and she
is also connected to the teacher Laura Cummins.
Eb
and his cousin Karen, who was here visiting from
Switzerland, are related to these people:
Clara
Walker, Elizabeth Walker, Bertha Walker, Ira Walker, Newton Walker,
Joe Walker, Mabel Abbot and Leyla Abbot (name not shown in list,
but see note above from Karen*)
If
any more of you out there have relatives shown in that photo,
please let me know!
Joanne
also sent along this photo we believe to have been taken at Etna
Elementary in 1917.
Her
mother, Myrtise Wilson is in the top row far right with large
white bow in her hair. Joanne believes her father, Raymond Smith
is in the bottom row, third from right.

And
again . . . if you have relatives shown in this photo, please
let me know so we can add to the list!
In joy!
