Birthday Post-script:
One of my gifts
from dear friends was this delicious raw silk scarf

and since we planned to have dinner with them tonight, I decided
I wanted to 'whip up something' that showed off the scarf!
As
it happened, I had a sweater that looked well with it . . . and
a rust shawl I had made last year from wool jersey. I had 'felted'
the wool, but not as heavy as the red wool you saw earlier-on. The
rust has a softer, flowing feel.

I
had some left and layed out a skirt pattern I have been wanting
to try that is cut on the bias. I barely eeked it out!
(Mother would have been proud . . . as she always used to
buy less fabric than was called for on the pattern! Used to freak
me out each time we cut out something . . . and probably why
I buy much more than needed now!)
I
have discovered since getting back into sewing that understanding
the pattern sheet directions has become challenging. (I
never have been good at reading directions . . . always do better
watching someone, making notes, and
then doing!)
Well
. . . these were even more challenging.
I finally gave up and just tried to make it look like the picture
on the paper! And the amazing thing was . . . it fit!

And . . .
I had it finished a few hours before
we left for dinner! WOWIE!

Another
friend from Oregon sent me a beautiful birthday card made in Switzerland
and their logo is the hummingbird........inside was a little card
telling about their company and this:
Legends
say that hummingbirds float free of time,
carrying our hope for love, joy and celebration.
The hummingbird's delicate grace
reminds us that life is rich,
beauty is everywhere,
every personal connection has meaning
and that laughter is life's sweetest creation.
It
was a fun time sharing laughter with our friends tonight.
Yes! . . . life is rich . .
.
as we explore more deeply
these personal connections.
Until
soon,
