The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . February 18, 2007

Boy, it has seemed like Spring the last few days with temperatures in the mid-50's!

And you know what that means????? A girl's fancy turns to sewing new clothes!

My 'Sewing Mentor-friend' Kathy sent me an email saying she had been looking at the Spring 'Runway' fashions via the internet . . . so I jumped in too and took a peek!

And after having soooo much fun in my party dress, I was not surprised
to read this:

A LOOK AHEAD . . .
SPRING RUNWAY TRENDS

"The last time dresses were of such importance was in the Seventies with Diane Von Furstenberg’s sexy, savvy wrap.

Now the dress is back and this time it’s flirty, feminine and even a little coy. Baby doll, Empire and strapless looks are key. Adding to the sweet, youthful feeling are prints with a carefree, springtime air."

I had to laugh as I had made a trip into town to check out the latest on the $1/yd. fabric table and found these two. The turquoise-lime cotton wavy print reminded me of the 50's (much like our weather just now!) and the lime (again of 'unknown origin and content') has a slight sheen and a little see-through.

I have a book on 50's fashion patterns, so spent time last night looking through it. The cotton wavy print had me thinking 'Doris Day and Cary Grant' movies!

These are some that caught my eye . . . thinking ahead to our April 22nd dance!

\

There was only 3 yards of the turquoise-lime cotton, but 13 of the lime . . . so that will add to the fun of coming up with something!

Until soon,
