The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . June 1, 2008 . . .

Is it really possible that I haven't done a 'Musing' since late January????? Actually as I typed that, I wasn't surprised that it had been sooooooooooo long.

We didn't travel south to warmer climate this past winter as Eb came down with bronchitis in February (just at the time of my birthday!), and two weeks later as he was recouping, then I came down with the flu. That was rare for me as I am not often smitten by illness.

Neither of us seemed to fully regain our strength and vitality and in talking to others, they hadn't either . . . and I surely wasn't ready to buy into the idea that it was due to getting older!

You know how I am a firm believer in synchronicity . . . well . . . yesterday got my attention!

It had popped into my head a few weeks ago that my father had passed on June 6, 1981 at the age of 61. And this year I was 61, and June 6th was quickly approaching. I didn't want to put too much energy onto that; however, I thought that come June 7th I would inwardly feel a lot better, having awoken that morning, still in good health, even if I still felt the tiredness!

I had even found an art class on traditional Korean Wrapping Cloths (Pojagi) that I signed up to attend in Eugene, Oregon on June 7th . . . that's how convinced I was that I would live longer than my father.

So yesterday when the phone rang and a friend invited me to go to Yreka with her to hear a presentation on herbs and nutrients, I decided to go. I had the pleasure of meeting Marge, a most delightful woman, who is just a year or so older than I am; however, her family history of illness was quite frightening. Her story was truly amazing to all of us.

My way of taking herbs/vitamins/minerals/etc. has always been: to buy them, begin taking them, forget to take them and then figure if I forgot to take them that I must not need them!

Since February, I was diligently taking some Native American herbs, then about a week ago I kept forgetting to take them.

After Marge's presentation I decided it might be time to try something new . . . again.

I bought the all-in-one vitamin for 'mature' (!!!) women ; one for the immune system and one in spray form that contains amino acids and vitamins to support healthy and normal pituitary function and feeds the brain. Marge had told us about the 'growth hormone' and how in people who had had any kind of head injury, that hormone could have been greatly affected. Since I had been hit in the head with a baseball bat at age 5, I figured I was a good candidate. Plus, seeing the amount of energy she had I thought it couldn't hurt.

I took one of multi vitamins upon reaching home, then two of the immune system blend and just before laying down to sleep, sprayed a few shots under my tongue of the spray. As I was laying there awaiting sleep, all of a sudden it felt like little tiny bubbles were forming in my head area, then slowly moved down through my neck and shoulders, torso, legs and to my toes. I figured something was happening that must be good!

I was hoping I would then go right to sleep; however, the big dish of chocolate yogurt ice cream I had a few hours earlier seemed to kick in. By the time I got to sleep it was well after 1:30 a.m.

At 5:00 a.m. I awoke to bird songs and was amazed how wide awake I was. That, however, wasn't motivation enough to get out of bed. I 'layed in' for another few hours. And when I did get up it was like a different person got out of bed. Even though the ice cream had affected my sinuses (which it always does), my mind felt very clear.

I took another of the all-in-one and another shot of the spray under my tongue and then fixed breakfast. We decided that since the weather was cool that it would be a perfect morning for going to the woods to use the wood splitter to make smaller the big pieces Eb had cut the other day.

We had done that a few times in the past week and after about 45 minutes, both of us where ready to head for the couch for a rest . . . which we did! Today, however, was very different. I just kept working and didn't feel the tired feeling that had become a part of my routine.

We came in for lunch, then I decided to get the grass cut as it was looking pretty shabby. Then I had him show me how to use the weed eater and neatened up the edges. That meant that the weeds in the flower garden showed more, so I pulled them and hauled them off. After that I moved some rails to make a small rail fence in one section of the yard.

Eb, of course, was watching most of this from his lawn chair. Neither one of us could believe it.

I could even open the refrigerator and see the Hershey's chocolate there and not be tempted. I had no response to it one way or the other, which was totally amazing, as my chocolate cravings the past 6 months have been out of control!

I didn't snack in the afternoon and at dinner I ate a smaller portion than I usually do, feeling well satisfied.

And as I sit and type this tonight, I do not feel that tiredness that plagued me for months and my mind still feels very clear.

Truly an awesome day!

I have decided to keep a journal of my progress, so will report back again!

Until soon,

Che'usa
