Me Musing .
. . June
20, 2008 . . . Summer Solstice
Yowie! This
is my 3rd posting this month! Lots going on to muse about it seems.
This afternoon
I had the most incredible
massage session, so decided I couldn't keep this to myself!
Last Saturday
I attended a 'Touch Drawing' class here in the valley and met Maureen
who has been in the area for one year, however, up until then, our
paths had not crossed. It was 'friendship
at first sight' .
. . like meeting someone who was very familiar and dear to me.
It's always
easiest for me to give people my website information for them to
explore and learn about my life and 'what I do' (which,
of course, is still a mystery . . . even to
me!) when I am asked that question . . .
This is what
Maureen 'does':
She
is skilled in Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced 'chee nay
song' and means energy of the internal organs). Chi Nei Tsang
is the ancient practice of abdominal massage developed by Taoist
Monks and brought to the U.S. by Mantak Chia, of the Healing Tao
in Thailand.
Well, the minute
I heard that, I said, 'sign me up for one'!
This afternoon
was the 'appointed time'. I have had massage over the last 30 years;
however, the abdominal massage included in some of those was nothing
like this! Most of those were not what one would subject themselves
to for a fun afternoon!
I had no idea
what to expect, but was open to the experience.
The only words
for it are . . . there is great power in
gentleness.
Gentle touches
are applied primarily on the abdomen and along the meridians throughout
the body, while connecting with the breath.
I thought I
had been relaxed before during various massages, but nothing like
this incredible deep richness.
(I am sure it is different for everyone; however, this was
my experience!) At one time I felt what I can only describe as 'feeling
my center of gravity'.
And at the
end of the hour when my feet once again touched the floor, the way
I stood on them felt totally different.
I decided right
then that this was something I was adding to my monthly calendar.
It would seem that for women pre ~ during ~ or post menopause, this
would be excellent.
Maureen said
her teacher taught that as we age, the pressures of the environmental
energies push more and more in on us. And since, during aging,
we begin to shrink up (seems like
the phrase should be 'shrink down' or 'in'!!!), that we don't
have the same amount of strength and inside body energy that we
used to have, so those outer pressures compress us more and more
inside. (These were my words, but you get the picture!)
What Chi Nei
Tsang does since it also uses our breath in the process, is makes
more precious space inside and
strengthens us so we are more able to be balanced between inside
and outside pressure.
Anything that
helps us stay in balance these days, I'm all for!
If you live
here in the valley or are planning a visit to this area . . . I'd
highly recommend checking this out! P.S.
. . . Maureen also works a few times a month in Yreka if that is
closer for you.
"Chi Nei
Tsang improves the elimination of toxins, increases the circulation
of nutrients and fluids in the various tissues of the body and improves
the functioning of the internal organs. It strengthens the immune
system and our ability to heal from disease."
You can call
Maureen with questions about a Chi Nei Tsang session in Etna at
7-4089.
Until
soon,
