The Orange Wheelbarrow

Me Musing . . . March 26, 2007

Amazingly wonderful the response I have had to my last 'musing'!

I especially loved this one from my friend Kenzan: "I think that syncronicity is your job on this planet! Going backwards often leads to going forward ~ then being in the present makes more sense."

The synchronicities continue to 'roll on'.

One of the gals in the Reeb forum group, a schoolteacher in Canton, Ohio wrote and said she was a student teacher in Miss Kohler's Sophomore Home Economics class in 1964 in Hilliard!!!!!! I was a senior that year, so we walked the same halls. If you recall I wrote about some experiences in Home Ec class in my January 20th musing.

In going through old photos I had to laugh . . . and if you want to test out Kenzan's theory, dig out some photos of you as a child 'playing' and see how they relate to your life in the years between then and now. Mine were quite interesting.

Cooking, dancing, music, modeling
clothes (that both Mother and I made for me) . . .

(Don't you just love the white socks with flats
as it was before the time of panty hose!)

led to . . .

MORE . . . cooking, dancing*, music, modeling

* You've read about the dancing on my 60th birthday dance celebration musing of Feb. 8th!

Remember the family photos from Grandma's album?? Well, I have now been able to figure out more of the relationships. Some I had placed the children with the wrong parents (easy to do when there are soooooooooo many Jacob, Charles, Henry, Catherine, Edward names!). After more research, I think I have most of them with the right families, so they can 'rest in peace' easier now.

And speaking of names . . . the question was asked by one of the Reeb forum group . . . where did your name Che'usa come from and what does it mean????

I began to write about this and realized it would take a whole other 'musing', so will post it in a day or so or it will take you all afternoon to read this!

In doing the research on relationships in the photo album, I decided to explore our 'famous while we were growing up' ancestor: George Balser Hess.

We had been told that he was in the boat with George Washington when they crossed the Delaware. (I have since learned that they actually were retreating) . . . and am sure that it was Balser who yelled, "get in the boat men"!!!!!!! . . . or words to that effect . . . as over the years I have often been told I am good at organizational skills (aka: issuing orders!).

I also found an article from May, 2006 in the Columbus Dispatch that said that on June 11th 2006 (last year!), the Union Cemetery was preparing to celebrate their bicentennail and were looking for Hess descendants to be there for the big celebration. (It was Balser Hess's farmland where he was buried in 1806, that became a resting place for other family members, neighbors, then later was bought by a group to establish Union Cemetery which, according to the article, now houses 70,000 graves!

Yikes! What is it with this?????? I leave Hilliard, a town of 5,000 people and all of a sudden there are 60,000 people there. Balser quietly gets buried on his own land and now there are over 70,000 people joining him!!!!!!

Anyway, the article said that as of May 16, 2006, no desdendants of the Revolutionary War soldier could be found to invite them to participate in the bicentennial.

Darn . . . used to be a 'day late and dollar short' . . . this time I was a year late!

I'm going to leave this musing for now and jot off a note to the reporter and the cemetery manager to let them know 'yes there are Hess descendants alive and well' . . . and hope I don't have to wait another 100 years for another celebration . . . if so . . . I'll just have to keep doing MORE . . . cooking, dancing, music, modeling of clothes I make . . . until then.

As I walked into 'the Bowl Room' this morning I saw a quote from Franz Kafka that I had found years ago:

"You do not need to leave your room.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
Do not even listen; simply wait.
Do not even wait; be quite still and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked;
It has no choice;
It will roll in ecstasy at your feet"!!!!

Roll on . . . I'm in ecstasy!

Until soon,

Che'usa
