Mayan Day Counter . . .

"Che'usa has developed a very valuable tool ~ a tzolkin round
for everyone who wants to immerse herself in the cosmic plan
and follow its energies on a daily basis
through the tzolkin,
the traditional Sacred Mayan Calendar"
~ Carl Johan Calleman

If you have read the story
about how 'my Mayan Glyphs'
came into being,
then you will understand
how this Mayan-style Day Counter
just naturally evolved from those!

In reading Carl Johan Calleman's book
('The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness')
and looking at the book's many charts,
I found myself jumping from one chart to another.
One evening after much page flipping, I thought . . .
"IF ONLY there was ONE chart
that encompassed the information
I keep jumping back and forth to find. . .'

You guessed it!
The next thing I knew I was sitting at my kitchen workspace
with ruler (which I am not very good at!) and pencil in hand
and a big sheet of graph paper
combining information from the pages!

About 5 hours later,
having coloured in boxes to my satisfaction,
I had the prototype for what began a HUGE project!

I photocopied off a few from the un-coloured original,
hand-coloured them, and gave them to two of my friends
who are also working with the Mayan Calendar information.

Just like me,
they found the system to be very simple.
And as I am a sort of 'See Spot, See Spot Run' kind of person,
this new way of Day-Counting was grand!
All I needed was a little rock (for a marker),
this new chart,
my 'Artistic Energetic' drawings
and I was 'in tune' with the daily Energies of
these magnificent Beings!

What could be easier?????

On days that my rock slipped
or
I forgot to move it,
all I had to do was go to Carl Johan's site

www.calleman.com
(I've linked to his English page
where you can read the latest article he has written
and also request to be notified
when new information is added to his site)

then in the drop-down menu
click on the second choice: 'calculate Gregorian date to Mayan'
and it will show you the current day's date.
click on 'Submit Query' and it will tell you
the Glyph Name and Traditional Glyph Count!
If you want to find the Glyph information for a different day,

just change the date information and submit it.

OR........
you can download the Mayan Tzolkin Calculator
from there directly onto your computer!

Since I use my 'Artistic Energetics'
to 'feel' the Energy of the day,
I made individual 5 x 7 cards
of each Energetic.
As we begin each new Trecena (13-day cycle),
I display THAT card as a 'Remembrancer',
and then place the Daily Card with it
so I can allow the Energies of both to work with me.

That way, as things happen during the day
I can relate back to these TWO Energetics
and often have insights of what
REALLY may be going on
in a situation
or
perhaps have a glimpse into what I could have done differently
or
into what I did splendidly, just 'flowing' with the situation!

To me, it is a very gentle way
of interacting with the Energies.

As I write this, the Glyph and Count is 48 of 260
which is 9 Lamat (left card in photo).
It is, however, in the Trecena of Ahau (right card in photo).
So, for me, the 'over-lighting' Energetic is
Ahau ~ 'Golden Overtones Spiral Within',
in which this day's (Lamat) ~ 'Star Harmonies Sounding' is the lead player.

(You can also delve more deeply into all the inter-connections
by incorporating the larger 65-day cycle (which begins on a 'Burner Day')
into your daily Quietude time!)

It is up to you
how simply or deeply
you wish to involve yourself
with these Energetics!

To me these 'Energetics' are no different than all of Life . . .
patterns within patterns,
relationships within relationships,
movement within movement.

We are not JUST male or female, but the blending of both
in varied and subtle ways.
And these Day-Counter Energies
interact, blend, harmonize with each other,
just as ALL of OUR parts
interact, blend and harmonize with each other,
creating the 'unique' being that we are!

Well, THAT system worked fine for months;
however, being raised by artists,
I realized that it needed some major 'clean-up' work!

So . . . I asked a few computer-wise people
IF it were possible to do this in a more professional form.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . .
The answer came back . . .
'You're talking about LOTS of hours'
(which translates into LOTS of moolah!)

Well, that wasn't a possibility,
so I went to 'Plan B' . . . my friend Thelma
who holds my hand through most all of this computer stuff!

She is more familiar with all the programs than I,
and before I knew it,
off we went ~ designing the Day Counter!
On this summer's bike rides
we would problem-solve
then try out the solutions.

After many stops and starts
and much training from Thelma,
you are now looking at the end result . . .

and I might say,
I am pretty pleased with it!

And as you well know,
one thing leads to another . . .

I felt it would be simpler to have ALL
the 'Artistic Energetics' artwork on one page
to go along with the Day Counter,
although, some people may prefer
the individual cards as I use them.

Somedays just reading the titles on the Day Counter
take me directly to the Energies . . .
Other days, I seem to need to SEE the artwork
to help take me there.

on
'my Glyphs' page where they are shown individually)

As we empower our 'quietude time' each day
drinking in remembrances of The One Heart,
we shall find our 'outer world'
begin to reflect
the simplistic rhythm
of our crystalline body . . .
which glows
in the passionate flame
of inspiration,
feeling,
beauty,
harmony.

Note:

I am sure I come by this Mayan-Aztec connection
through my mother who was an incredibly talented woman.
In the late 1960's she began
hand-tooling an Aztec Calendar
out of copper.
I can remember her
sitting at the breakfast room table
night after night
working on them . . . one at a time . . .
it took months of work.
She did not sell these . . .
just made a few for people
she felt should have one . . .
and gifted it to them.

Here is the one she made for me . . .
I treasure it.
