Katie Reeb Hess
died in June, 1890 at age 32 and Grandma (Anna Reeb Hess) was not quite 3-1/2
yrs. old then.
It was written
of Katie: "The death of Katie Reeb, wife of Henry R. Hess was deeply
mourned not only by her family
but by many friends, for her womanly qualities and estimable characteristics
which had gained her the warm friendship
of those with whom she was brought into contact."
Katie was buried
in Greenlawn Cemetery in her parents' family plot. However, in searching for
a gravestone photo
there, it was discovered that about 1928 (2 years before the passing of her
beloved husband, Henry Rutherford Hess)
he had her moved to Union Cemetery so she would be able to rest alongside
of him once again.
