'Chinra-Minka' ~The Old Red Barn

Me Musing . . . August 12, 2009

We have been moving right along in bringing the little Chinra Cottage (as I call the little house next to the barn) into the 21st Century . . .
so this will be mostly photos.

Mr. Sand man (Eb) . . .
has sanded all the window and door trim,
cabinets, drawers and doors

Bathroom finished . . .
I like the oak cabinet a lot better
with some colour on the walls!

This sink is great with it's 'support' legs
and attached towel bars.

Love these lights.
Only problem is it will be like
putting on makeup
with a flashlight!

And a great style bathtub.
I had never seen one angled like this
and it's in perfect condition

Still trying to get a photo of the zigzag
on this wall but the two greens are
so close, it's hard to see!

All the registers were gray looking
so I used a 'hammered copper' spray paint on them
to give them some pizzzzzzzzaz!

One of my favorite light switch covers.
It's difficult to find a place it fits as most
switches are too close to the molding.
I bought it in Taos, New Mexico in late 80's.

Periwinkle wall in laundry

The original 'Yowie' orange laundry room wall on left
and the toned down version on the right.
I can live with that!

Today I placed the first Quartz Crystal Bowl
in the peach Bowl Room.
(Notice the view from window ~ part of
alley and chain link fence)

Window blind I made today from handmade paper . . .
now all you see is the
beautiful blue spruce at the side of
neighboring house.
I like being able to open just the top of the windows.

Guess that's all for now. I just have one more door in bedroom to paint, then on to laundry room trim. The last major painting will be
the kitchen cabinets. But those will have to wait until next week as I am leaving Friday for a 3-day Surface Design Workshop in Klamath Falls. I signed up for it waaaaaaay before the barn and house were on the radar!

Will be a nice break and should learn some great techniques for printing on fabric so I can make some window coverings and cushions for the little Cottage.

The fun continues! And Eb is looking forward to 3 days of complete rest while I am gone . . . although his Christmas present of a new riding lawnmower will be delivered tomorrow, so he says he'll be out on it 'cruising the neighborhood' while I am gone. Cutting grass may be much more appealing to him now than anymore sanding!

Until soon,

Che'usa
