'Chinra-Minka' ~The Old Red Barn

Me Musing . . . December 3, 2009

Well Thanksgiving came and went and we had a great little gathering. The best part of that week was that Eb, his nephew and his two sons worked to get our chimney and woodstove up and running!

It's a great little stove that looks like
it was just made for the cottage!

First fire . . .

We have sure been enjoying it as there is nothing like wood heat for warmth. We have now spent 3 nights here! It is always amazing how each house and its orientation can be so different. Before we were 'in the trees' and now 'in the city' . . . yet very quiet during the day AND at night!

I just LOVE this little Cottage . . . and yesterday got into the festive mood, so did a little arrangement for the front porch . . .

I also got the idea that since the kitchen is very 'retro' looking with the colours and chrome drawer and cabinet pulls, that I needed a more 'retro' look in the breakfast room. As you recall, I had the little table there . . . sort of a cozy little 'table for two' feel . . . but I decided I wanted a little bigger table so four could be comfortable for dinner.

Well, in sorting out things in the garage I found an old table with great chrome legs that was in pretty rough condition. It really needed a make-over and new life so I covered the original yellow edge with some of the copper spray paint . . .

The formica top was crumbling away, so we scraped off as much as would come apart from the plywood underneath . . .

I have a few ideas for a new top for it, but don't have quite enough of the materials, so will have to think more on that. I moved the area rug from underneath, put a table cloth on for now, made cushions for two of the chairs I'll use that go with the covers I already had for the other two chairs. It turned out looking really nice and you can't tell that the table top is in 'repair' mode . . .
unfortunately as I was taking a photo of the new table arrangement, the camera slipped out of my hand, hit the chair and fell to the floor, hitting right on the telephoto lens . . . so now the lens won't go in or out and it won't let me access the photos I took, or take new ones!

So . . . you'll just have to imagine all this
until I can order a new camera!

Until soon,

Che'usa
